How I can help you

I am a qualified family lawyer and mediator.  I have worked with and represented a diverse range of clients for over 20 years.

I am qualified to mediate either alone or with a fellow mediator, depending on what best suits your circumstances.  I am accredited with the FMC and can carry out MIAMs (Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings). I have completed advanced mediation training and am also able to offer a hybrid mediation model which includes working with lawyers in the process.

I am a Professional Practice Consultant and provide support and mentoring for fellow mediators.

I am a member of Resolution, a national body of family lawyers, who are committed to resolving matters arising on separation in a non-confrontational way for the benefit of the whole family.

For those who come into mediation with me I can draw on my experience and expertise in my legal practice, providing information and guidance about all aspects of divorce, financial settlements, children’s arrangements and disputes between couples who have lived together.  My knowledge of the courts approach to disputes is invaluable in helping to structure settlements.

I recognise that mediation is not the right process for everyone and I am able to work on your behalf as your lawyer if this is more appropriate.

Please keep yourselves safe during the current coronavirus threat.  During this period I will be offering MIAMs by video call and substantive mediation in appropriate cases.

As your mediator, my aim is to help you both negotiate constructively by providing tools and information so you can make mutually acceptable decisions about arrangements for the future in a calm and informed way.

Your mediation questions answered

"I found mediation to be completely fair and equal to both parties. I felt comfortable and confident in the meetings, and not intimidated at all.

The process was calm and much less stressful than I thought it would be. The process of separating was frightening, but legal issues and formal processes were explained and simplified so I could understand. Between meetings I had time to reflect and I could re-address issues at the next meeting if I wanted to.

Following the breakdown of my marriage, I felt myself and ex-partner could not communicate effectively about issues that needed to be agreed. Mediation gave us a neutral and professional platform to find conclusions. It helped me to see things from my ex partners point of view and allowed us both to compromise. Mediation helped us to reach the best possible outcome for our children's futures and wellbeing. The mediation process was tailored to us and the issues we wanted to agree on.

I would definitely recommend mediation to find a fair solution for both parties." Philippa
